【摘要】:Thispracticecoverscompressiontestinwhichthespecimenisheatedtoaconstantanduniformtemperatureandheldattemperaturewhileanaxialforceisappliedatacontrolledrateofstrain.Note1Inmetalswithextremelyhighelasticlimitorlowmodulusofelasticityitisconceivablethatpercenttotalstrainunderloadcouldbereachedbeforethe0.2percent-offsetyieldstrengthisreached.Inthiseventthe0.2percent-offsetyieldstrengthwillbetheendpointofthetestunlessruptureoccursbeforethatpoint.Note2Foracceptablecompressiontestsitisimperativethatthespecimensnotbucklebeforetheendpointisreached.Forthisreasontheequipmentandprocedures,asdiscussedinthisrecommendedpractice,mustbedesignedtomaintainuniformloadingandaxialalignment.Preferredconditionsoftestingarerecommendedsothatdatafromdifferentsourcesconductingthetestswillbecomparable.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
