【摘要】:Reliable,controlledflowofbulksolidsfrombinsandhoppersisessentialinalmosteveryindustrialfacility.Unfortunately,flowstoppagesduetoarchingandratholingarecommon.Additionalproblemsincludeuncontrolledflow(flooding)ofpowders,segregationofparticlemixtures,useablecapacitywhichissignificantlylessthandesigncapacity,cakingandspoilageofbulksolidsinstagnantzones,andstructuralfailures.Bymeasuringtheflowpropertiesofbulksolids,anddesigningbinsandhoppersbasedontheseflowproperties,mostflowproblemscanbepreventedoreliminated(1).Forbulksolidswithasignificantpercentageofparticles(typically,onethirdormore)finerthanabout6mm(x00BC;in.),theunconfinedyieldstrengthisgovernedbythefines(x2212;6mmfraction).Forsuchbulksolids,strengthandwallfrictiontestsmaybeperformedonthefinefractiononly.Thistestmethodcoversoperationofthemanually-controlledSchulzeRingShearTester.Anautomatedversionofthistesterisalsoavailable.Itsmethodoftestingbulksolidsissimilarinprincipletothatdescribedinthistestmethod.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofpersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.PracticeD3740wasdevelopedforagenciesengagedinthetestingorinspection(orboth)ofsoilandrock.Assuchitisnottotallyapplicabletoagenciesperformingthisstandard.However,usersofthisstandardshouldrecognizethattheframeworkofPracticeD3740isappropriateforevaluatingthequalityofanagencyperformingthisstandard.Currentlythereisnoknownqualifyingnationalauthoritythatinspectsagenciesthatperformthisstandard.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheapparatusandproceduresformeasuringtheunconfinedyieldstrengthofbulksolidsduringbothcontinuousflowandafterstorageatrest.Inaddition,measurementsofinternalfriction,bulkdensity,andwallfrictiononvariouswallsurfacesareincluded.1.2Themostcommonuseofthisinformationisinthedesignofstoragebinsandhopperstopreventflowstoppagesduetoarchingandratholing,includingtheslopeandsmoothnessofhopperwallstoprovidemassflow.Parametersforstructuraldesignofsuchequipmentmayalsobederivedfromthisdata.Anotherapplicationisthemeasurementoftheflowabilityofbulksolids,forexample,forcomparisonofdifferentproductsoroptimization.1.3AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.3.1Theproceduresusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected/recordedorcalculatedinthisstandardareregardedastheindustrystandard.Inaddition,theyarerepresentativeofthesignificantdigitsthatgenerallyshouldberetained.Theproceduresuseddonotconsidermaterialvariation,purposeforobtainingthedata,specialpurposestudies,oranyconsiderationsfortheuserx2019;sobjectives:anditiscommonpracticetoincreaseorreducesignificantdigitsofreporteddatatobecommensuratewiththeseconsiderations.Itisbeyo......
