【摘要】:Thehigh-temperaturecapabilitiesofadvancedceramicsareakeyperformancebenefitformanydemandingengineeringapplications.Inmanyofthoseapplications,advancedceramicswillhavetoperformacrossabroadtemperaturerange.Thethermalexpansion,thermaldiffusivity/conductivity,specificheat,andemittance/emissivityarecrucialengineeringfactorsinintegratingceramiccomponentsintoaerospace,automotive,andindustrialsystemsThisguideisintendedtoserveasareferenceandinformationsourcefortestingthethermalpropertiesofadvancedceramics,basedonanunderstandingoftherelationshipsbetweenthecompositionandmicrostructureofthesematerialsandtheirthermalproperties.TheuseofthisguideassiststhetestingcommunityincorrectlyapplyingtheASTMthermaltestmethodstoadvancedceramicstoensurethatthethermaltestresultsareproperlymeasured,interpreted,andunderstood.Thisguidealsoassiststheuserinselectingtheappropriatethermaltestmethodtoevaluatetheparticularthermalpropertiesoftheadvancedceramicofinterest.Thethermalpropertiesofadvancedceramicsarecriticaldatainthedevelopmentofceramiccomponentsforaerospace,automotive,andindustrialapplications.Inaddition,theeffectofenvironmentalexposureonthermalpropertiesoftheadvancedceramicsmustalsobeassessed.1.1Thisguidecoversthethermalpropertytestingofadvancedceramics,toincludemonolithicceramics,particulate/whisker-reinforcedceramics,andcontinuousfiber-reinforcedceramiccomposites.Itisintendedtoprovideguidanceandinformationtousersonthespecialconsiderationsinvolvedindeterminingthethermalpropertiesoftheseceramicmaterials.1.2Fivethermalproperties(specificheatcapacity,thermalconductivity,thermaldiffusivity,thermalexpansion,andemittance/emissivity)arepresentedintermsoftheirdefinitionsandgeneraltestmethods.Therelationshipbetweenthermalpropertiesandthecomposition,microstructure,andprocessingofadvancedceramics(monolithicandcomposite)isbrieflyoutlined,providingguidanceonwhichmaterialandspecimencharacteristicshavetobeconsideredinevaluatingthethermalpropertiesofadvancedceramics.Additionalsectionsdescribesamplingconsiderations,testspecimenpreparation,andreportingrequirements.1.3CurrentASTMtestmethodsforthermalpropertiesaretabulatedintermsoftestmethodconcept,testingrange,specimenrequirements,standards/referencematerials,capabilities,limitations,precision,andspecialinstructionsformonolithicandcompositeceramics.1.4ThisguideisbasedontheuseofcurrentASTMstandardsforthermalpropertieswhereappropriateandonthedevelopmentofnewteststandardswherenecessary.Itisnottheintentofthisguidetorigidlyspecifyparticularthermaltestmethodsforadvancedceramics.GuidanceisprovidedonhowtoutilizethemostcommonlyavailableASTMthermaltestmethods,consideringtheircapabilitiesandlimitations.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandardperIEEE/ASTMSI10.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
